Glastonbury Organiser Dismisses Madonna Headlining Rumours for 2027

Glastonbury festival organiser Emily Eavis has dismissed rumours that Madonna will headline the festival in 2027. In an interview with BBC Radio 4's PM programme, Eavis stated that the festival has booked its headliners for next summer, but denied that Madonna would be among them. Eavis told the programme that "no, it's definitely not Madonna, I'll tell you that." She also mentioned that the festival has three other headliners, but declined to reveal any further information, laughing when asked about the possibility of a performance from Taylor Swift. Eavis stated that she didn't want to discuss the line-up any more. Madonna has yet to play the UK's biggest festival, and the speculation about her potential appearance at Glastonbury began in June when she hinted to BBC talk show host Graham Norton that she was planning something big in the UK next summer. Eavis also spoke about the prevalence of false information surrounding the festival, stating that "pretty much 95% of the stories [about Glastonbury] you read are not true, and rumours are pretty much always wrong." She expressed her excitement about the upcoming festival, saying that "we've got our headliners and we're cracking on, and we just can't wait to get back." ## Arts Funding and Support Eavis also used the opportunity to discuss arts funding and her hopes that the new Prime Minister, Andy Burnham, will support music education in schools and the smaller music venues where many future Glastonbury headliners start out. She stated that "I'm really hoping that Andy Burnham gets right behind the arts," and that "it's what we do so so well. And I really am hoping that he will recognise the arts and music as being a huge asset to Britain. It's what we do best, it is what we are." A spokesperson for the Department for Culture, Media and Sport has stated that they are "under no illusions about the financial issues facing the culture sector" and are "committed to supporting them during this difficult time." ## Glastonbury's Return in 2027 The Glastonbury festival was rested for a fallow year this summer but will return in June 2027, with tickets expected to go on sale in November. Last year's festival was headlined by The 1975, Neil Young, and Olivia Rodrigo, with Sir Rod Stewart in the legends slot.
