Danni reflects on Bake Off exit after biscuit week
Danni was eliminated from Great British Bake Off during biscuit week, citing vegan baking challenges and celebrating new friendships formed in the tent.

Danni became the first contestant eliminated from this year's Great British Bake Off during biscuit week. The episode aired on Tuesday night, September 29, 2026, with Danni struggling across the three tasks due to vegan dietary restrictions that prevented them from tasting their own bakes.
Danni explained to judges Paul Hollywood and Nigella Lawson they were vegan and could not taste their cinnamon 'Snickerdoodle' cookies, which contained cream and butter. Nigella Lawson said the cookies had 'too much cinnamon and bicarb' and added: 'It's impossible to know what you are baking if you don't taste it.' Paul Hollywood called the cookies 'powdery.' Following elimination, Danni said they were happy to be first out because they knew others had more skills. They viewed being the weakest baker positively, as it meant they had 11 others to ask baking questions. Danni joked that if they got the Snickerdoodle wrong, Paul Hollywood would 'decapitate me.'
Finding connection in the tent
Despite initial doubts, Danni formed meaningful friendships in the competition. They described the experience as joyful and non-competitive. Danni said they learned they could make friends in the right circumstances. "Finding love in a group of strangers, that's just beautiful," Danni said. They spoke to BBC Radio Solent's Dorset Breakfast show, describing the experience as 'absolutely fantastic, on and off camera' and said they were 'just hyped to be there.'
Danni said they had never been the best at making friends and described themselves as 'quite an eccentric person and quite a Marmite person.' They did not expect to make friends but found many lovely people in the tent. The environment was not competitive but 'just a bit of fun you are having with your friends.' Danni expressed gratitude for the experience, saying they gained a wonderful new family from the show.
Bake Off highlights and judging feedback
The biscuit week challenges tested the 12 bakers with three distinct tasks. Judges offered specific feedback on Danni’s vegan bakes and praised others for their creativity.
| Challenge | Description | Key Contestant Feedback |
|---|---|---|
| Signature | Make 30 identical American-style cookies with uniform decoration. | Danni's vegan Snickerdoodles were called 'powdery' with 'too much cinnamon and bicarb.' Clara received praise for her tiramisu-inspired biscuits. |
| Technical | Recreate nostalgic classic iced gems. | Nigella Lawson said decoration should enhance, not overwhelm, the cookie. |
| Showstopper | Construct a visually striking biscuit mosaic. | Tom's Mean Girls-inspired mosaic, made from 70+ raspberry biscuits, was adored by Nigella for flavour despite being called a 'mess.' |
Hairdresser Tom from West Yorkshire was named star baker on Tuesday. His biscuit mosaic was inspired by the Burn Book from the 2004 movie Mean Girls. Tom said his mosaic would look 'rubbish' and felt humiliated for not completing it, but he received positive feedback on the flavours. Danni, an HGV service centre administrator from Dorset, said competing gave them some of the best advice about improving something they love. They noted technical challenges were not their strength but they loved doing them, calling it 'like a puzzle.'
The Great British Bake Off continues next Tuesday at 8pm on Channel 4.
