Madfabulous Leads Bafta Cymru Nominations
The film about eccentric aristocrat Henry Paget has six nominations, with The Guest and Under Salt Marsh also receiving multiple nods for the Welsh awards.
Feature film Madfabulous has secured six nominations for the Bafta Cymru awards. The ceremony will be hosted by presenter Owain Wyn Evans at the ICC Wales in Newport on Sunday 4 October.
The film tells the story of the eccentric 19th Century Welsh aristocrat Henry Paget, the fifth Marquess of Anglesey. Actor Callum Scott Howells, who portrays Paget, previously called the role a "genuine honour." The drama series The Guest follows with five nominations, and the crime thriller Under Salt Marsh has three.
BAFTA Cymru chairman Lee Walters congratulated all nominees. He said each nomination reflected the creativity and dedication of Wales' screen industries. "The range and quality of this year's work reflects a sector that continues to grow in confidence," Walters added. He stated the awards aim to inspire the next generation of Welsh storytellers.
Veteran and First-Time Nominees
Several established Welsh performers have extended their nomination records. Actress Eve Myles receives her tenth Bafta Cymru nomination. Gabrielle Creevy gets her fourth, and Matthew Rhys also receives his fourth nomination. Directors Euros Lyn and Gareth Bryn have both been nominated for the ninth time.
The list also includes many first-time nominees. They are Buddug Povey, Sian Reese-Williams, Tom Cullen, Sian Eleri, Claire Oakley, and Lisa Baker.

Other Nominated Works
In the Feature or Television Film category, Madfabulous competes against Mr Burton, Tanau'r Lloer, and The Man in My Basement. The Television Drama category shortlist includes Stad, The Guest, and Y Golau: Dwr.
Factual programming nominees range from the language history series Stori'r Iaith to the rescue show SOS: Extreme Rescues. The Single Documentary category features films about Merthyr Tydfil, artist Gwen John, and actor Richard Burton.
Sound nominations went to the teams for Havoc, The Man In My Basement, and Madfabulous. The awards will celebrate the full spectrum of Welsh screen production later this year.
