Richard E Grant banished from Celebrity Traitors

Richard E. Grant was banished from Celebrity Traitors after announcing he was a Traitor just hours into the show. The actor received 16 out of 20 votes in the first roundtable, a historic and decisive elimination.

Grant fulfilled a personal ambition by being selected as a Traitor. He told the group, "I have always wanted to be a Traitor, as you know. Sometimes in life your dreams do come true, and sometimes they don't." His open strategy backfired spectacularly. He later reflected on his unique failure, stating he had managed to checkmate himself in an unprecedented move.

Landslide vote leads to Grant’s banishment

The first Round Table of the UK celebrity series ended with a landslide decision. Sixteen of the twenty Faithful players voted to banish Richard E. Grant. This marked the first time a Traitor was identified and removed at the initial banishment session. Host Claudia Winkleman confirmed the historic moment, telling the euphoric group, "Players, this has never happened before. Your first try and you got one."

Contestants react to Grant’s exit and new dynamics

The game's dynamics shifted immediately after Grant's dramatic exit. Fellow Traitors Maya Jama and James Acaster recruited a new member, Professor Hannah Fry, in the turret. Among the Faithful, comedian Joanna McNally expressed shock, having trusted Grant completely. She did not vote for him and later lamented her misplaced faith. Maya Jama reflected on the difficult position Grant's confession put her in, stating she had to sacrifice her ally to survive the round.

Fan response highlights emotional impact

Viewers flooded social media platform X with reactions to the early twist. Many praised Grant's bold play while lamenting his premature departure from the game. Posts ranged from tributes calling him The Man. The Myth. The Moment to expressions of genuine sadness and disbelief that he was gone so quickly. Some fans argued the show would be worse without his presence, with others feeling sympathetic for his truncated journey.
