Adidas is launching its Futurecool 3D-printed sneaker globally in April 2027. Dazed Studio produced the campaign, styled by Senior Fashion Editor-at-Large Mirko Pedone, to show how the sculptural shoe fits into daily life beyond its technical credentials.

The campaign was photographed by Simon Birk. It aims to bring the Futurecool shoe out of the lab and into a series of looks. Pedone led the styling with an instinctive and organic approach.

"The great thing about adidas products is that, throughout history, they have been very versatile," Pedone explains. He notes it was a fun challenge to style one item in different ways and contexts. The goal was to show how Futurecool could work across different wardrobes.

"I myself style adidas with more fashionable pieces that are not sporty, and so do my friends and all the people who have a remarkable style that I admire," says Pedone. He emphasized that the final looks needed to show the shoe's versatility.

Menswear Look

For one men's look, red shorts were the highlight. Pedone calls them one of the trendiest pieces of men's clothing of the season and relevant to the debate about how long men's shorts should be. He thinks the adidas shorts are the right benchmark.

The look layered lightweight technical fabrics with a pop of colour for the tops. It included a coat, a windbreaker and a shirt to be styled and mixed freely.

Womenswear Look

For the women's look, Pedone tried different options in the fitting. The team decided to go with the look that felt the most effortless and relatable. It is a sporty but more elevated look.

The orange top is a vintage Stone Island technical top. It was courtesy of the SI archive Arco Maher in London.

Smart Casual Look

The other approach for a men's look was to build a "smart" look that did not feel too literal or formal with the shoe. Lightweight technical fabrics were again core for this.

Pedone sourced pieces from some of the most promising young designers in London. An unlined lightweight technical blazer from Keogh Dewar and a sheer technical white shirt from Luca Fabry were mixed with some adidas items.

The general brief was muted colours with pops of colour peppered through. Pedone added a rubber Luca Fabry belt to give the look a unique, playful and quirky twist.

The Futurecool shoe builds on adidas's earlier Climacool design. Climacool was a fully 3D-printed shoe introduced earlier this year, designed around breathability and made into one seamless piece. Futurecool takes the technology in a new direction with a more sculptural silhouette.

For a chance to secure a pair before the global release, the source states to head to the CONFIRMED app to enter adidas's raffle on August 28. The full campaign is available in the gallery on the source site.
