Charity Shop Girl Hosts Second-Hand Masterclass For Teesside

Social media and BBC personality Jen Graham, known online as Charity Shop Girl, will host a second-hand shopping masterclass and meet-and-greet in Middlesbrough this September. The event is a fundraiser for Teesside Hospice, with all proceeds supporting its care services.

Graham will appear at the Teesside Hospice Superstore on Portrack Lane on September 26. The event, titled the Second Hand September Fashion Show, will include a live talk from Graham, a charity shopping masterclass, and a unique fashion presentation.

Event Details and Ticket Information

For a £20 ticket, attendees can see the fashion show and shop one-of-a-kind runway pieces. They will also meet Graham and hear her tips for successful charity shopping. The hospice is offering specially discounted student tickets for £5 each.

All money raised will go directly towards running Teesside Hospice's services, according to the organization. This follows a previous visit by Graham in April, when she helped officially open the superstore.

Student Collaboration and Sustainable Fashion

The fashion show will feature pieces created by students from Middlesbrough's Northern College of Art. The students will reimagine items donated to the charity's stores, styling them into trendy, wearable outfits with a strong focus on denim through different eras.

Event organizer Natalie Futo-Wallace expressed excitement about the collaboration. "We're also so excited to be teaming up with the Northern College of Art students again," said Futo-Wallace, the hospice's events fundraiser. "They're such a creative group and the pieces they created last year were amazing."

Supporting Hospice Care Through Shopping

Graham shared her enthusiasm for returning to Teesside. "I love that their charity shops not only give you the chance to have a good rummage and find some amazing second-hand treasures but that every purchase helps fund vital care and support for local people," she said.

Natalie Futo-Wallace highlighted the dual purpose of the initiative. "Second Hand September in itself is a great initiative, but knowing that any support then means our team at Teesside Hospice can provide end of life care to more people across the region is an added bonus," she added.

The event combines sustainable fashion advocacy with direct charitable support. It offers a practical guide to second-hand shopping while funding care for people and families living with life-limiting illnesses in the Teesside region.
