Red Carpet: Lil Luv Dog has launched its luxury clean beauty products for dogs in the UK at Selfridges

Lil Luv Dog has launched its luxury grooming products for dogs at Selfridges, marking the brand's UK debut. The company introduced a liquid shampoo and a leave-in conditioning mist earlier this month.

The brand's founders say they are establishing pet beauty as a new global category. They have chosen to distribute through prestige beauty retailers rather than traditional pet stores.

The UK launch at Selfridges

Lil Luv Dog's new liquid shampoo and leave-in conditioning mist are now available at Selfridges. These products join the brand's existing dry shampoo, grooming wipes, and brush.

Founder Cara Santana-Leto explained the choice of retailer. She said Selfridges shares the brand's view on where beauty is headed. Santana-Leto stated that 94 percent of British consumers consider their dog part of the family. She called the department store the ideal place to introduce the brand.

For the founders, this launch is about establishing pet beauty as a global beauty category, not simply bringing an American pet brand to the UK.

The products are sold in two scents: cactus flower and oat. They are available at Selfridges' Oxford Street, Birmingham, and Manchester stores, as well as online.

A beauty routine for dogs

Co-founder Stephanie Suganami said the assortment is designed as a complete beauty routine. The line includes products for bath day and everyday maintenance.

Suganami said she and Santana-Leto founded the company because of a disconnect. They felt the beauty industry for humans was sophisticated, but options for dogs were not. The brand approaches pet grooming through a beauty lens, focusing on formulation, fragrance, and design.

Lil Luv Dog claims its dry shampoo was the first pet grooming product to receive Environmental Working Group (EWG) verification. The entire line is now EWG verified.

Ultimately, the founders want to help establish a new category of beauty for dogs rather than simply make another pet-care brand.

Product details and pricing

The brand's products are positioned at a premium price point. The liquid shampoo costs £42 and the leave-in conditioning mist is £38.

Suganami described the target customer. This person thinks intentionally about what they put on their own skin and the brands they support. They want to bring the same consideration to their dog.

Retail strategy and future

In the United States, Lil Luv Dog is sold through a mix of physical retail and e-commerce. Partners include beauty, fashion, and lifestyle retailers like Goop, Violet Grey, and Revolve. The brand also appears in experiential retail environments like Pop Up Grocer.

Suganami said the retail model varies by partner. With the launch of the new wash products, she expects the physical retail presence in the US to grow.

The company currently has no plans for a permanent standalone store. However, Suganami said the brand is very interested in physical experiences. She pointed to the potential of pop-ups, takeovers, and beauty suites where people can bring their dogs. These concepts would allow the brand to explore what a physical Lil Luv Dog world could look like.
